Napthens’ Kate qualifies as legal executive

Kate Mercer, of the Residential Property team at Napthens solicitors’ East Lancashire office, has qualified to become a chartered legal executive.

The respected qualification, which takes a number of years to complete, is offered by the professional body for chartered legal executives and others in the sector including legal practitioners, paralegals and apprentices.

Kate has worked at Napthens for more than 12 years and lives in Chorley.

As a chartered legal executive, Kate can handle the legal aspects of conveyancing, just as a solicitor would, rather than the work of legal support staff who tend to handle more routine work.

Kate said: “This is a great qualification to have under my belt, and as my experience increases, my professional responsibilities within the team can also increase.

“Chartered legal executives usually become one of the main points of contact for clients who might be seeking the help of solicitors on a legal matter.”

Sarah Barnes, head of Residential Property at Napthens, said: “With her new qualification, Kate will be able to work closer with clients and to carry out a full range of legal services relating to property transfers.”
