Lancashire businesses will be warned about the good, bad and the ugly of the digital marketing sector

Lancashire businesses will be warned about the good, bad and the ugly of the digital marketing sector – and how to spot the difference – at a digital marketing roadshow.

Businesswoman Nichola Howard has joined forces with fellow Lancashire entrepreneur Mubarak Chati from E3 and Lisa Edge from online business resource Lancashare to champion digital good practice in the North West and teach businesses how to avoid the pitfalls of poor online skills.

Launch Events North West will be bringing its Digital Marketing Roadshow (DMR) to the Village Urban Resort, Blackpool, from 9.30am-3pm on Friday, March 17, 2017.

A recent study by The Institute of Public Policy Research, found small and medium enterprises are lagging behind other businesses in terms of their digital capacity.

The Unbuffering Business report, published in October last year said: “Businesses perform better when they do more online. Those with a strong web presence are more productive, create more jobs and are more likely to sell beyond their immediate area.”

Nichola, director at Launch Events North West, said: “When I founded my events company, I had no clue how much my sales and profile would rely on digital marketing – and even less of an idea how to do it. What I also didn’t realise is how treacherous the world of digital marketing agencies can be, my experience of under delivery and bad conduct did not do my relationship with the sector any favours.

“Three years in, that relationship has changed. I am working with trusted partners who have helped me to understand and implement social media, web and email marketing and reach more than half a million people during my major events such as Blackpool Expo.

“Now, I have invited these partners on tour with the DMR – first stop Blackpool – to give the visitors access to something I wish I’d had three years ago: a room full of helpful people who are on hand to offer honest and no-nonsense advice on everything digital.”

Experts, including DMR debate host Neil Simpson from Doing The Right Things, Danny Parker from ATTAIN addressing email marketing, Jamil Khalil from content curation platform Wakelet, and North West Regional Organised Crime Unit talking about cyber crime, will be ditching the jargon to give the no-nonsense advice businesses need to stay secure online, reach more customers and plan for the future.

There will be opportunities to try out the latest tech and meet industry leaders from across the region as they showcase their expertise.

Launch Events North West are expecting more 350 people to attend. Tickets are available free here.
