Jujitsu Meeting Leads to Vehicle Contract

Blackburn-based Jets GPS
(L-R) Marina Goodman, Ribble Farm Fare Operations Manager/Company Secretary with Jan Evans, Jets GPS Director

Blackburn-based Jets GPS has won a fifty-three vehicle contract with Longridge-based Ribble Farm Fare Ltd after a meeting at a jujitsu club provided a referral through a BNI networking group.

Jets GPS provides a range of vehicle tracking and fleet management systems from headquarters in Blackburn and recently joined BNI Zeus to help grow its business through referrals.

BNI Zeus is part of the world’s biggest referral organisation, Business Network International, and meets for breakfast every Wednesday at The Globe Centre, Accrington.

Established over 30 years ago, BNI now has over 200,000 members in over 70 countries worldwide.  It works by organising weekly networking meetings for groups of businesses.  Groups, known as chapters, use their combined network of contacts to find business opportunities and referrals for one another, to a specific brief that members outline at every meeting.

Jets GPS director Jan Evans said: “I always ask for specific referrals at our weekly meetings and recently asked for introductions to a client I had missed out on about eight years ago.

“Ribble Farm Fare has a strong local presence.  I see their vehicles daily and really wanted to work with them.  Kate Woods of Off Piste digital marketing, a member of my chapter, spoke to her fiancé.  He does jujitsu with an employee of the company who spoke to one of the directors.  Within two weeks, a fleet of 53 vehicles was signed up, and my referral target was smashed in one deal.

“The great thing about BNI is that the formula really does work.  You just need to apply yourself to it and stick with it.”
