How to bag up to 50% off train fares until March

PE customers can save up to 50% off selected advance and off-peak tickets in its rail sale – with some fares as low as £2.50.

More than 250,000 discounted tickets will be available for travel across the TPE network in northern England and Scotland, for journeys between Tuesday 21 January and Monday 31 March.

Passengers in Manchester could visit Sheffield for as little as £2.50, a journey from York to Scarborough could be as cheap as £4.70, and a ticket from Preston to Edinburgh could cost less than a tenner.

Customers will have from today until January 20 to save on TPE fares as part of the Rail Sale.

Train operating companies across England and Wales are working together to offer up to 50% off selected Advance tickets on more than two million journeys.

These offers won’t last long, and there are only a limited number of tickets, so passengers are being encouraged to snap up these deals quickly.

Darren Higgins, commercial director at TPE, said: “This is a great opportunity for our customers to get big discounts on train tickets to visit destinations across our network.

“We urge customers to book tickets early to avoid disappointment. Once they’re gone, they’re gone.”

All train operators across the UK including ScotRail and Transport for Wales are participating in the sale, except Hull Trains, Lumo, Merseyrail and Translink Northern Ireland
