Logistex is proud to announce that they have secured a major automation contract with Yusen Logistics (UK) for the development of their 1.2 million square foot Sustainable Distribution Centre (SDC) in Northampton.
The SDC, which will have a capacity of 240,000 pallet locations, is designed as a shared user facility supporting both B2B and B2C operations. The warehouse features two dedicated chambers, one for Pharmaceutical goods and another for Ambient operations.
Logistex will implement an Automated Storage and Retrieval System (AS/RS) with Aisle Changing and Fixed Aisle cranes, a custom Automated 4-way Pallet Shuttle for Pharmaceutical clients, and an Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) Goods to Person solution for both chambers. Their Reflex warehouse system will integrate with all technologies and automation equipment to ensure full control of inventory and order picking.
Justin Saw, Business Development Director at Logistex, said: “The Logistex team has built a strong partnership with Yusen Logistics (UK) during the tender process, and we are thrilled to bring our best-in-class integration capabilities to this project.”
Benjamin Bird, Business Development and Solutions Director at Yusen Logistics, added: “This project is a strategic milestone in our goal of delivering sustainable logistics services by 2030. The net zero warehousing solutions will allow us to serve B2B and D2C clients through shared user automation, and the SDC’s location near the new rail terminal offers further opportunities for carbon reduction. The operation is built around strong ESG principles.”
