Firefighters are still in Lytham St Annes after a blaze broke out at around 2.30am today.
The incident is ongoing at a commercial premises on Boundary Road and motorists are advised to avoid the area at the turn-off for McDonald’s on Lytham Road if they can.
There is a strong smell of plastic in the air.
Currently, six crews are in attendance. Firefighters are wearing breathing apparatus, and there are three hose reel jets in operation.
A spokesperson for the fire service said: “At 2.34am on the 6th February 2024, six fire engines from St Annes, Wesham, South Shore and Blackpool are in attendance at an incident on Boundary Road, Lytham St Annes. Firefighters are wearing breathing apparatus and are using three hose reel jets, a hose reel, a ground monitor and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire. Crews remain in attendance at this time.”
He confirmed that the crews would be in attendance for some time and thanked the public for their understanding and patience.
