Striker Lyle Foster commits to Burnley

Burnley striker Lyle Foster has signed a new five-year deal at Turf Moor.

The South Africa international joined the Clarets from Belgian side Westerlo in January and played an important part in the club winning promotion back to the Premier League.

He has also made an impressive start to life in the top flight with three goals and two assists in seven appearances, with the only blip being a red card he received in the 1-1 draw at Nottingham Forest.

Foster told the club’s official website: “I’m very happy to stay here. It’s a club with very good people and I have really enjoyed working here and I’m pleased to extend my stay.

“The supporters, Turf Moor, everything here. The way we organise ourselves and our standards are something I fell in love with.

“It’s a club that pushes towards excellence and that’s something I want to be a part of.”

Burnley have won just one of nine league games this season but Foster is confident they can get out of the relegation mire under boss Vincent Kompany.

“I’m trying to stay focussed and continue working hard. It’s a long season with lots of tough games but as time goes on I think we will grow stronger,” he added.

“We will have a good season. I have plenty of belief and confidence within the squad, the coaches and everyone around the building.

“There is no need to stress. Just enjoy what we’re doing and there’s a recipe for success.”
