Bright night: Preston solicitors walk the lights for charity

Legal eagles from Marsden Rawsthorn Solicitors put their best feet forward last night to raise money for charity.

Eight ladies from the Fulwood-based law firm took part in Walk the Lights 2023 in aid of  the Rosemere Cancer Foundation.

The event is a five-mile stroll in Blackpool starting at Bispham Train Station and ending at Starr Gate, taking in the illuminations. Refreshments were served at Sharples Hall at the end of the walk, plus there was a fundraising raffle.

Rosemere Cancer Foundation

This year’s fundraiser is celebrating its 10th anniversary and is supporting the charity’s £1.3 million Guiding Light Appeal, which is set to bring SGRT – surface guided radiotherapy treatment – to Rosemere Cancer Centre at the Royal Preston Hospital in early November.

Rosemere Cancer Centre undertakes all radiotherapy for the whole of Lancashire and South Cumbria, treating around 1,200 patients a week.

It’s not the first time Marsden Rawsthorn has raised money for the charity as Jennie Barnes, an senior associate solicitor at the firm, set herself a challenge to raise £2022 in 2022 by walking, jogging and running the distance, after the incredible support her family received from the charity.

Wonderful evening

Associate licensed conveyancer, Jenni Shoreman, who was one of the walking team said: “We had a wonderful evening in Blackpool and while it was quite windy we all had a lot of giggles along the way. It was fantastic to be raising money for such a good cause.”

So far Marsden Rawsthorn has raised £409 with cash still to be collected.

If you can spare a few coins to donate the ladies who took part in Walk the Lights 2023, it’s not too late. The Just Giving page is here: https://www.justgiving.com/page/marsden-rawsthorn-solicitors-walkthelights23
