Equans hands over 100th property at housing development in Kirkby

Regeneration specialist Equans is celebrating reaching a key milestone at a 266-unit housing scheme in Kirkby on Merseyside, with 100 homes fully completed and handed over to Your Housing Group (YHG).

The modern, stylish new homes are part of a housing development by YHG, known as ‘Whitefield Brook’, is helping to transform the gateway to Kirkby by providing high quality, affordable housing for local people, with options to rent and buy.

Of the 266 units,106 will be for shared ownership, 115 for affordable rent and 45 for Rent to Buy.

The scheme offers a range of bespoke two, three and four-bedroom properties, all with fantastic transport links into Liverpool and the surrounding areas. The project has been funded through YHG’s strategic partnership with government body Homes England.

The scheme was highly commended in the Housing Development of the Year category at the Knowsley Business Awards 2022.

Equans has worked closely alongside local schools and colleges, as well as the charity ‘Everton in the Community’ to hold construction taster days, work experience placements and a Women in Construction day at Goodison Park, the home of Everton Football Club.

Steven Gregory, Regional Director at Equans, said: “It’s great we’re able to celebrate a key milestone on the Whitefield Brook scheme, with the project progressing on time thanks to the excellent team and dedicated supply chain partners. The project will provide affordable homes for local people and a real boost to the surrounding area.“

Jacque Allen, Chief Executive Officer at Your Housing Group said: “We are delighted to see Equans making such great progress at Whitefield Brook. Your Housing Group is committed to creating affordable homes and building thriving communities – helping people to get on the housing ladder. This development is set to transform the gateway to Kirkby and we are excited to be welcoming our new residents as work continues to progress.”

Work is set to continue on the scheme until 2024.
