Warden continues healthcare sector growth by securing place on new framework

Warden Construction continues to dominate the healthcare sector in the North West by securing a place on the NHS Shared Business Services (NHS SBS) framework agreement for PS-Works: Public Sector Construction Works.

A joint venture between the Department of Health and Sopra Steria, NHS SBS was established to drive improved corporate services to the NHS and wider public sector, which improve efficiency and quality, save time and money, and support world-class patient care.

The construction contract, one of the biggest frameworks to be rolled out in 2020, provides a compliant route for the NHS and any public sector organisation to access construction works projects. It covers all types of building and construction works, demolition, alteration and refurbishment works packages, including related design services as required for a design and build or construct only project. Services are available as a direct award, or with the option of a mini-tender if preferred.

Key framework objectives include collaboration, quality, value for money, social value and an integrated supply chain, in addition to supporting the government’s strategy by ensuring that sustainability and modern methods of construction are incorporated.

The duration of the framework is three years, running until December 2023, with the option to extend by two further two-year periods up to 2027, with a total framework spend over the seven years forecast to be £10.5bn.

Warden has secured two Lots within the North West region, for public sector and healthcare projects up to the value of £2.5m and also between the value of £2.5m and £5m.
Warden’s Managing Director, Richard Kenworthy, commented “This appointment continues to bolster our expanding healthcare portfolio which sees the business enjoy long-term partnerships with leading health providers and operators across the North West region. I’m aware that the existing NHS SBS consultancy services framework has proved a huge success since it started back in 2018 and our healthcare team is keen to promote the benefits of the contractor works framework to our client base to assist in replicating the same success during the forthcoming years.”

A long history of delivering healthcare projects have formed the backbone of Warden over the years due to the team’s technical knowledge of often complex facilities, whilst paying close attention to clinical effectiveness, patient comfort and ease of access for visitors.
More recently the team has completed Little Hulton Health Hub, funded by NHS Salford Clinical Commissioning Group, Salford Primary Care Together and Greater Manchester Pension Fund, which now provides an integrated health centre since opening its doors in October last year. The Hub brings together podiatry, speech and language therapy and diabetes clinics along with a smoking cessation service and mental health services to around 13,000 of the Salford community population.

In addition, Warden is currently on site with the new £8million day case hospital at Matrix Park at Buckshaw Village, Chorley which includes two theatres, first and second stage recovery bays, a diagnostics suite including a static MRI scanner, outpatient and physiotherapy departments for WW Medical Facilities Limited and their client Ramsay Health Care UK.
