Create Developments, part of Create Group, is pleased to announce that planning consent has now been granted for the development of a new 251 bed ibis Hotel at Edinburgh Airport.

Specialists in Turn-Key Hotel & Residential Developments, Create Developments will be completing the project with their sister company, Create Construction, who will be providing the build element. Create have now signed the franchise agreement with Accor, a world-leading hospitality group, under their globally renowned ibis brand.

The hotel complex, in a prime location adjacent to Edinburgh airport and business park, is set to become an exciting new landmark at the gateway of the busiest Scottish terminal attracting both business and tourist trade.

The airport, a 28-minute drive from the centre of Scotland’s capital, is predicted to experience extensive growth of up to 35 million passengers by 2050. Historic Edinburgh is a popular tourist centre, which currently attracts two million visitors per year and the airport will help facilitate the increasing number of travellers that have been predicted.

Featuring ibis’s new contemporary and urban ‘Plaza’ design concept, the hotel will be a truly vibrant space creating flexible social and working hubs that are welcoming living spaces for people to meet, work and play. Hotel and interior specialists ICA, in collaboration with the Accor Design & Technical Services team, will bring the global Plaza design concept to life. The new 251-bed hotel will also feature a stand-alone restaurant/bar building and provide parking for up to three coaches and 125 cars. The building will provide superior sound-proofing for the comfort of guests.

Commenting on the partnership, Paul Mathison, CEO of Create Developments commented: “With seven live developments at various stages – from planning, construction and branding, we are excited about developing our new relationship with Accor and hope that we can continue to support them in their future expansion journey.”

Commenting on the new signing, Phillip Lassman, Vice President of Development, Accor Northern Europe, said: “We are extremely excited to announce the signing of ibis Edinburgh Airport with our new partner Create Developments. Create Developments has an outstanding track record of joint venture developments and we are looking forward to working with them.”

Create Construction will begin building works later in the year, with a build duration of 70 weeks. The hotel is set to open early 2023.
