Woodhouse Opticians in Blackpool has been recognised as a ‘lockdown hero’ for its services during the pandemic by a national association representing 400 businesses.
Woodhouse was one of 20 optical practices chosen from throughout the UK to receive the accolade from business support group SightCare for dedication to its local community’s eye care.
The opticians has also been chosen as one of the top three in Blackpool by an independent review website. Woodhouse was acknowledged for its ‘consistent, high-quality service’ throughout 2020 by ThreeBestRated.co.uk. The website assesses local businesses using a 50-point inspection system to grade categories such as cost, reviews and customer satisfaction.
Director Sukie Woodhouse said: “This recognition is a reflection on our team who constantly show professionalism and care when dealing with our customers. It’s always nice when that personal touch is recognised.”
“We match that personal service with the most advanced and up to date technologies, including retinal photography and EyeCode personalised lenses.”
During last year’s first lockdown the practice in Highfield Road, South Shore, remained open for essential and emergency calls.
Sukie added: “Spectacle repairs were constant and contact lens patients needed deliveries. Staff unfortunately had to be furloughed and the situation was very uncertain but gradually we began to think about life after lockdown.
“What started with a desire to be Covid-safe quickly grew into a bigger revamp. Our practice has been given a smart new look, with updated fittings and more space.”
During the current lockdown the practice can continue to look after patients with appointments. To keep everyone safe the practice invested in a state-of-the-art aircon system to improve air flow and all staff wear scrubs and PPE.
