Accountants bring Easter cheer to Preston with Salvation Army egg donation

A Preston-headquartered chartered accountancy and business advisory firm has donated 340 Easter eggs to the Salvation Army to be distributed locally with food parcels during Easter.

MHA Moore and Smalley delivered the Easter eggs to the Preston Salvation Centre on Harrington Street on Tuesday (March 23), to be distributed throughout the Preston and South Ribble area alongside food parcels during the Easter period.

The Salvation Army is known for its work throughout the UK helping vulnerable people including those who are homeless, families in need and people living with illness.

It is the second consecutive year MHA Moore and Smalley has made the Easter donation.

Damian Walmsley, partner at MHA Moore and Smalley’s Preston office, delivered the Easter eggs to Preston Salvation Centre. He said: “The partners at MHA Moore and Smalley have traditionally bought all staff an Easter egg each year.

“Last year, with staff working from home during the first lockdown, we instead decided to donate the eggs to help bring some Easter cheer during especially tough times due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We’re proud to be making this donation again, which will hopefully brighten up somebody’s Easter weekend with so many people still affected by the pandemic.”

Natalie Thomas, community project leader at the Salvation Army Preston centre, said: “MHA Moore and Smalley’s generous donation last year made a real difference to vulnerable people in Preston and the surrounding area.

“The pandemic has affected our food bank donations and other services while demand for our help has been on the rise so it’s great that we’ll once more be able to include some treats with our Easter parcels.”
