Crowds flocked to the Burnley Vintage Car Show on Saturday 24th September to enjoy a revved up day of fun for the whole family.
Held in the town centre from 11am-4pm, the event featured a range of classic machines for visitors to see up close, while the Burnley Leisure dinosaurs and Burnley Alliance Silver Band entertained attendees in equal measure.
On top of this the famous Jurassic Park Jeep drew plenty of attention and Lightning McQueen proved popular with people of all ages. At Burnley Bus Station, a vintage bus also turned heads throughout the day.
The event was delivered by Burnley Business Improvement District (BID) with support from Charter Walk, Burnley Council, Burnley Bus Company and the Rotary Club of Burnley, and BID Project Manager Andrew Dean was delighted with how it went.
“We were really pleased with the reaction to the event and to see the town centre so busy was great,” said Andy.
“I’d like to say a massive thank you to all of the exhibitors for coming along on the day and we’re also very grateful to our town centre partners who each played their part in creating a buzzing atmosphere with plenty of activities for people of all ages to enjoy.”
Andy then commented on the footfall figures which proved very strong, even for a Saturday.
“The early feedback from businesses regarding the number of visitors has been overwhelmingly positive, with a popular bakery confirming they were selling out of stock just after lunchtime and both Rhode Island and Cosy Coffee commenting that the town centre seemed even busier than a Burnley FC matchday.
“I loved seeing so many smiling faces too and we will definitely look to bring the event back next year on a larger scale to build upon what took place at the weekend.”
The Burnley Vintage Car Show had initially been scheduled to run on Saturday 10th September but was postponed out of respect to the late Queen Elizabeth II.
