A young Preston professional has passed her final exams in accounting – after being mentored by a law firm.
Katie Morgan, who works at North West law firm Harrison Drury, has passed the internationally recognised Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) professional level exams and is now a qualified accountant.
Katie joined Harrison Drury in 2012 as part of Preston’s College’s Business Apprenticeship scheme. After completing her apprenticeship in 2013 she continued working in the firm’s accounts department while studying towards an accounting qualification.
She gained an Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualification at Preston’s College, then progressed to complete the final ACCA Professional Level.
Harrison Drury funded Katie’s training from the start as well as providing time off for study and to sit exams.

Katie said: “I am so grateful for the support and openings that working at Harrison Drury has given me. As well as achieving my accounting qualification, it has enabled me to increase my knowledge of the legal sector and to develop my professional skills.
“Working here has also helped me to massively build my confidence. I would recommend considering the apprenticeship route for any young person at the start of their career.”
Katie is based at Harrison Drury’s Preston office. As part of the accounts team, she is involved in banking, payroll and managing team expenses and preparing financial reports and budgets.
She also supports and trains new employees joining the firm and monitors the firm’s accountancy-related regulations and policies.
