Napthens acquires health and safety consultants ATG

Regional law firm Napthens solicitors has expanded its offering to clients with the acquisition of Lancashire based ATG Health & Safety Consultants.

ATG, which operates across the North West, provides a wide range of health and safety services for businesses. The acquisition expands the services offered by Napthens to organisations across the region.

Under the acquisition, ATG becomes a wholly owned subsidiary of Napthens LLP and will be known as ATG Health & Safety Consultants Ltd (part of the Napthens Group). ATG brings with it a number of retained clients to complement the law firm’s existing Employment & HR retained clients – currently numbering more than 300.

Founded in 1998, ATG offers consultancy, training and online courses for a range of businesses in sectors including service industry, manufacturing, construction and education.

Chris Boyle, Napthens’ head of Employment & HR, will head up the team as the acquisition sees ATG’s eight staff including Karen Lea, director, and five consultants, join the Napthens group.

Chris said: “We have known and worked with Karen for a number of years now and worked collaboratively to the benefit of our mutual clients.  ATG have similar values to ourselves and share the same passion for innovation and excellent client service.

“ATG’s culture and work ethic very much fit with our own. Bringing the business into the Napthens group will provide additional services for our clients and allow us to position both HR and Health and Safety together to provide a joint offering which our clients have demanded. It will also allow us to access new markets and create further opportunities going forward.”

Shru Morris, CEO of Napthens, added: “The acquisition of ATG will play an important part in our strategy for growth over the coming years, adding value to our Employment & HR offering and providing further business opportunities.

“Our annual retained service, HR3, has been a real success story for us, now operating a team of 21 lawyers and HR professionals. Health and safety is an area which clients have been asking for and we are delighted to be able to respond to that demand and offer an all-round service for employers.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming the ATG team and to growing the business further.”

Karen Lea of ATG added: “ATG has worked with Napthens over the past few years on a number of joint initiatives and I have admired the firm’s approach to client service and how it has developed the business by building strong relationships with clients.

“I believe being part of the Napthens Group adds real value to our service offering and will provide enhanced opportunities for all our clients.”
