Red Rose recognition, another step on MJH’s growth story

Preston based MJH Accountants Ltd is delighted to be announced as a finalist in the Financial Services category of the prestigious Red Rose awards.

The accountancy practice was founded in 2012 by Mark Hall and has grown to employ eleven staff and works with over 400, mainly SME clients, throughout the North West and beyond.

Managing Director, Mark Hall, said: “This is the first time we have applied for these awards and to be down selected as a finalist, against such tough competition, is fantastic news, both for the company and our staff.

“I firmly believe that the differentiating forward thinking factor for us was our advanced use of technology with our clients, including online accounting software, linked to a client’s banking and credit control processes. This makes the process easier, quicker and ensures that clients are already trained for the introduction of regulatory legislation on “Making Tax Digital”, which is being introduced for all VAT registered businesses from April 2019.

“Another differentiator is our people, who work closely with our clients to help them develop effective business processes, such as achievable KPIs, focused strategy, understanding of competitor analysis and quality performance feedback.

“Finally, we like to practice what we preach, both as an employer and as a good corporate citizen. All our staff have a clear career path and an associated staff development plan, to help them work towards their accountancy qualifications. Since 2014, we have employed two apprentices each year, who have been progressing through their accountancy qualifications with us and our first two trainees qualified as Chartered Accountants last Autumn, which was marvellous to see. We also attend school career fairs, offering work experience placements and internships.

“Supporting the local community is also important to us and our 2018 Christmas party raised £2,500 for the Foxton Centre, a local charity which is celebrating 50 years of working with vulnerable adults and children in and around the Preston area. We hope to raise a similar amount for our 2019 Charity of the Year, the Space Centre.”
