Fletchers COO scoops inaugural award for excellence in practice management

The chief operating officer of Fletchers Solicitors has become the first ever person to win a national legal award for Excellence in Practice Management.

Alexandra Hatchman was crowned the winner of the The Law Society’s new Excellence in Practice Management Award at the 12th annual Excellence Awards ceremony in London.

The award celebrates excellence and outstanding achievement in practice management and the judges wanted someone who could demonstrate how they have driven their firm in the areas of continuous improvement, sound business planning, risk management and technological innovation.

Judges were impressed with the way Alexandra has helped revolutionise the North West law firm, driving excellence in people leadership, business processes and management controls. In doing so, profitability per employee has grown by an astonishing 138%.

Alexandra joined Fletchers, the UK’s leading medical negligence and serious injury law firm, in August 2016 as a non-executive director. She was appointed to the role of COO in January 2017.

Prior to her role at Fletchers, Alexandra was general manager for stores transformation at a leading Australian food retailer, where she was responsible for step-changing the cost base and service offering across its 800 stores. Prior to this, she was head of food logistics & supply chain at Marks & Spencer where she transformed the function and was in charge of leading and developing a team of 50 professionals, who collectively oversaw thousands of operational resources.

Alexandra Hatchman, COO at Fletchers Solicitors, said: “I am delighted to win this award and would like to accept it on behalf of the whole organisation. Over the past few years we have implemented a series of changes that have successfully driven the organisation forward.

“This would not have been possible without the talented team I have the privilege of leading, and without the trust put in us by “Fletcherians” who have willingly supported us.

“This award is for everyone at Fletchers, and also for our customers who drive us to be the best we can be in order to serve them.”
