The latest event in the Blackburn Cathedral fundraising appeal was a successful golf day at Pleasington Golf Club, when 18 teams participated and raised nearly £6,000 for the appeal.
The Very Reverend Peter Howell-Jones, Dean of Blackburn Cathedral, said: “Our sincere thanks to the eighteen teams who took part in another enjoyable fundraising event.
“The money raised will go towards the Appeal’s match funding of the anticipated £2million Heritage Lottery Fund award to the Cathedral. This will enable the redevelopment of the Crypt and Undercroft of the Cathedral as a centre for exhibitions and meetings, as well as improving displays and the preservation of the Cathedral’s collection of archives and artifacts.”
Commenting on the golf day, Richard France, Investment Director, Investec Wealth & Investment Limited, said: “At Investec, we are immensely proud of our commitment to charitable foundations, such as the Blackburn Cathedral appeal and we were delighted to be the organiser of this golf day.”
Following its launch in October 2017, the Appeal has received significant support from local businesses, especially for the 100 Club , which aims to bring together 100 like-minded Leaders, from the world of business, entrepreneurship and philanthropy to support music, art, culture and heritage.
