Business group helps Piccadilly Garden raise biggest ever amount in single night

Lancaster business group, BNI Castle, has presented a cheque to Piccadilly Garden & Day Support Service for £3,150 raised with a special event which took place in May at Lancaster Brewery.

The group raised the money as part of a £220k charity commitment by BNI in Lancashire.  The world’s biggest referral marketing organisation, BNI has over 200,000 members in over 70 countries worldwide and organises weekly meetings for groups of businesses, known as chapters, who use their combined network of contacts to find business opportunities and referrals for one another.

Late last year, the eleven chapters in Lancashire committed to gifting a seat to a chosen charity and aiming to raise £20k per year for it.

The chosen charity for BNI Castle, which meets weekly in Lancaster, is Piccadilly Gardens, which provides a range of support services and activities for adults, young people and children with disabilities.

Charity manager Stephen Neaves said: “Situated in the beautiful two-acre Piccadilly Gardens in Scotforth, we providing day support for people to partake in a wide range of activities, including arts and crafts, gardening, cooking, music, pottery, walking, fishing, sport, horticulture, boxing and dog walking.

“Piccadilly has been the lead organisation for Person Centred Approaches in Lancashire for many years and we pride ourselves on our ability to provide a unique service tailored to the people we support.

“Our staff team are fully trained and experienced in supporting people with a diverse range of support needs and we are a Preferred Provider for Lancashire County Council, and an accredited training centre with City and Guilds.

“BNI were responsible for ticket sales and sponsorship of the event, which made just over £3k, the most we ever raised in one single night, so we are delighted with the outcome and the money raised.”
