Fylde Coast YMCA and Champion celebrate 21 years together

Champion Accountants’ Blackpool office has been providing expert accountancy and business advisory support to local charity, Fylde Coast YMCA, since 1997.

Established in 1922, the charity forms part of the worldwide YMCA movement and for the past 96 years has extended its work into nine communities to now manage 18 sites. Now operating 10 leisure facilities, the charity intends to help everyone achieve their full physical, social, cultural and spiritual potential.

In 1997, John Cronin, CEO of Fylde Coast YMCA, began his leadership at the organisation. Developing from one small site and 12 staff, to 18 sites and nearly 600 employees, John has described the past twenty years as a dramatic transformation.

John said: ‘’We’ve been working with Champion Accountants for a very long time and their level of service has never changed. The team have always supported us, especially during periods of growth.’’

The charity is currently working on a multi-million pound project to upgrade its site at Lakeside in Ulverston, which is due to complete May next year.

Jill Walker, director of finance at Fylde Coast YMCA, added: “Champion is extremely helpful and if we ever have a query, they always explain it to us in a way that is easy to understand.

“Not only are they approachable and personable, Champion feel like they’re an extension of our team, which is why our relationship has continued to progress over such a long period of time.’’

The accountancy group, which also has offices in Manchester, Preston and Chester, has impressive client retention rates and is celebrating decades of partnerships with clients, some of which span several generations.
