Business Lancashire signs up to Saturday’s NWLCC Dragon Boat Challenge

Business Lancashire has today announced it will take part in the North & Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce (NWLCC) Dragon Boat Challenge. The Business Lancashire team will be joined by over 300 participants at Preston Docks this Saturday, 9 June.

The event will see over 15 teams from across the county battle it out to be crowned the champions. Competitors will take to the water to paddle their boats across the docks from 10am until 4.00pm, when the prize -giving ceremony will take place.

A ‘competitor’s village’ will be set up by the swing bridge and members of the public are invited to come and enjoy the race spectacle and cheer the teams on.

Babs Murphy, Chief Executive, NWLCC said: “We first took part in the event back in 2012, and from then on, the Chamber has organised this annual competition for companies to come together and battle it out on the water.

“This year, we are delighted to have returning teams from UCLan, OBAS and several others taking part and new companies, as well as charities, up for the challenge of taking the trophy home and being crowned our Dragon Boat Challenge champions. We hope families and the general public will join us this Saturday to cheer the teams on.

”In 2017, the trophy was won by UCLan’s ‘Team Oarsome’, who will be back to defend their title. Other teams this year include NWLCC, OBAS, Farleys Solicitors, UCLan, Omni Resource Management Solutions, Business Lancashire, The ATTAC Group, F2 Chemicals, NW Skills Academy, B S Stainless and the AM Support Group.”

Andy Mann, Editor, Business Lancashire, added: “We are delighted to be taking part in this year’s Dragon Boat Challenge, hosted by our local Chamber of Commerce and partner, the North & Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce.

“The Business Lancashire team will be joined in the dragon boat by some of our clients and we look forward to sharing an enjoyable day, especially if the weather is kind to us.”
