Following a visit to China, Bilsborrow based Levity CropScience is seeking to appoint a distributor in the country.
China is a world leader in agriculture, primarily producing rice, wheat, potatoes, tomato, sorghum, peanuts, tea, millet, barley, cotton, oilseed and soybeans. Whilst only accounting for 10 percent of arable land worldwide, China produces food for 20 percent of the world’s population.
Levity hopes to add China to its growing list of exports, including countries such as the USA, Egypt, Jordan and Ghana. The firm’s exporting achievements were noted at this year’s Northern Powerhouse Export awards, where Levity was awarded the Micro Exporter of the Year Award, as well as being highly commended in the Most of Entrepreneurial Export of the Year category. They have also just won the Innovative Business of the Year award at The Red Rose Awards for the second year running.
Anna Weston, Co-Managing Director, said: “We were excited to visit China since it is one of the most important agricultural markets globally and a potentially important export market for our smart fertilisers.
“Following the visit, we hope to secure a distributor in the country, allowing growers across the East Asian nation to access our innovative products, which have been proven to help increase yields and make crops more resilient to the stresses of climate and infection.”
