A Preston company is taking control of pest management at leading businesses across the UK

Alpha Pest Control is finding a niche in the market, working with some of the country’s top facility management companies. Most notably, they are the go-to experts for Incentive FM, which is employing Alpha’s skills and professionalism across a growing portfolio of contracts, including shopping centres and office complexes - and now their help is also being sought for student accommodation buildings across a number of cities.

Through structured pest protection plans and innovative solutions, Alpha customers are seeing a significant reduction in reports of pest activity, giving them peace of mind that not only are their pest control needs in safe hands but their costing budgets are well-managed too.

Alpha’s director, Mike Flynn, 61, said: “It’s a massive undertaking to identify pest sources, implement meaningful systems to get initial control, then maintain a good standard of pest control across a rapidly growing number of nationally located new customers”.

“However, we are proving that we’re certainly up to the task – we have recruited three new field-based staff in the past three months and will continue to invest in the business as we continue with our growth strategy.”

The Incentive FM accounts are the latest in a string of coups for the pest management experts. It was Alpha who this summer were invited to help global commerce giant Amazon as it embarked on new endeavours, with a team of technicians spending several weeks at Amazon’s huge base in Hemel Hempstead, assisting in practical and advisory roles.

A combination of experience, innovation and enthusiasm is helping Alpha to stand out from the crowd and take on greater challenges. “When we have been asked to do value engineering by auditing the service of other pest controllers, by doing so we have saved our clients thousands, and helped in preserving their good reputations,” says Mike.

The company, whose 19-strong team have been asked to deal with anything from scorpions to spiders, moles to moths, tackles a range of premises that is as diverse as the variety of creatures they face. After being asked to work at Blenheim Palace café, Alpha now has an ongoing role regarding inspections and advice for anything pest-related at the stunning venue.

But you don’t need a stately home to benefit from Alpha’s services. The highly-skilled and friendly staff, who have decades of experience in the field, have helped hundreds of households across Lancashire get rid of wasps’ nests, trapped birds and the like – and are keen to continue doing so alongside their expanding commercial work.

As Mike says: “While we are expanding and assisting larger companies, we don’t want to lose our family business feel.”
