Blackburn recruitment business’ Quiz Quest raises over £12,000 for local youth charity

Blackburn based Cummins Mellor have hosted their annual ‘Quiz Quest’ raising £12,320 for local charity, Blackburn Youth Zone.

Over 50 businesses from across Lancashire including; Graham & Brown, Pierce Accountants, Napthens and Bowker Blackburn, battled it out at the Mercure Dunkenhalgh hotel to be crowned ‘Quiz Quest Champions 2017’.

As well as paying to enter their teams into the event, businesses also donated an array of over 20 fantastic raffle prizes and auction items including a pair of Tour de France Final Day tickets donated by Sports Tours International.

The money raised will go towards the Youth Zone’s ‘Get a Job’ programme, facilitated by the team at Blackburn Youth Zone. This programme is aimed at supporting young people aged 16 – 24 years, gain the right skills for employment.

After an exciting 10 rounds of questions, the end of the evening saw the title of ‘BYZ Quiz Quest Champions 2017’ go to Solicitors Woodcocks Haworth & Nuttall, who were presented with a trophy, medals and a cake made by members of Blackburn Youth Zone.

Commenting on the hugely successful evening, Michelle Mellor, Managing Director of Cummins Mellor said: “It is a privilege to support the amazing work of Blackburn Youth Zone which we are committed to continue doing and hosting our annual Quiz Quest raises vital funding as well as the profile of the Youth Zone. Businesses coming together and connecting around such a worthwhile youth provision for our young people is such great collaboration and raising over £12,000 this year is testament to what we can achieve when we all work together.

Special mention must be made to Ivan Lynch, General Manager at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel and his team for their extremely generous hospitality, together with Barclays bank who have fund matched and Sports Tours International for donating such a fabulous auction item.”
