Local Chartered Accountants sponsor Sustainable Tourism award

Fleetwood based Chartered Accountants, Jones Harris, are delighted to announce their sponsorship of the Sustainable Tourism category at this year’s Lancashire Tourism Awards.

Jones Harris has a track record in the tourism sector spanning more than 40 years and are the only CAA-registered ATOL auditor in Lancashire.

The Sustainability Award is a perfect match for the firm which employs just short of 30 members of staff and, along with other environmental improvements, have already made the move to operate a paperless office.

Martin Wigley, Director, Jones Harris explained: “Transferring all of our records to digital files has reduced our paper consumption dramatically. It’s also reduced our carbon footprint in terms of printers, consumables and electricity useage. It’s given us more space and enabled us to operate more efficiently. With so many staff, implementing just that one change has made a huge difference in our own business.”

The Sustainable Tourism Award is designed to showcase applicants who can demonstrate excellence and commitment to sustainability within their business.

Martin added: “It will be looking at tourism businesses for their breadth of expertise and practical application. It looks at what they’ve already achieved, how they integrate sustainability into daily operations, how engaged they are in sharing the sustainability message and what their plans are for the future.”

Jones Harris have extensive experience in the tourism sector and provide cost-effective accountancy services to many of the county’s best known hotels, guest houses, restaurants, caravan parks, garden centres, tourist attractions and more, helping Lancashire’s tourism and leisure businesses to thrive.

Martin continued: “We have some excellent tourism businesses in Lancashire and we’re looking forward to the judging process, being involved in this year’s awards and working with Marketing Lancashire.”

The Lancashire Tourism Awards will be held on 9 November at Blackpool Tower Ballroom.
