Triple marketing award shortlisting for UCLan

The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) has been shortlisted for three awards which recognise excellence and innovation within the education marketing sector.

The University will be hoping for gold at the Heist Awards, which is in now in its 27th year, and awards silver and bronze places for runners up.

UCLan’s Mannequin Challenge campaign, which was used to encourage students to complete the National Student Survey, has been shortlisted for Most Effective Use of Social Media, an award which celebrates innovative digital content.

The video, which was filmed at last year’s winter graduation ceremony at the Preston Guild Hall, featured more than 1,000 people, received over 100,000 views and attracted the attention of national media outlets including the BBC.

In the Best Low Budget category, the team is hoping to take home an award for its Acts of Kindness Day initiative, which saw the institution’s lecturers, staff and Student Union representatives carrying out good deeds throughout Preston among the local community. Following its success, the University has made the Acts of Kindness Day into an annual event.

Following the launch of UCLan’s School of Medicine in 2015, the team is also in the running for Best Undergraduate Student Recruitment Initiative for its successful 2016 recruitment campaign, Training Future Global Doctors.

A judging panel made up of education and marketing experts will determine the winners, which will be announced at a British seaside themed ceremony on July 13 at The Principal Manchester.

Dr Jo Heaton-Marriott, Acting Director of Communications & Engagement at UCLan said: “To be shortlisted for these prestigious awards in a range of categories is testament to the hard work, passion and creativity of the team, and we’re looking forward to the ceremony when we’ll find out if we’ve been successful.”
