Elliot’s Foundation Journey

AFC Fylde Community Foundation’s popular ‘Striking Futures’ traineeship programme continues to achieve new heights of success with more young adults receiving support on the path towards employment.

Delivered by the Community Foundation working in partnership with Virtual Learning UK (VLUK) and supported by Cuadrilla and Centrica, the ‘Striking Futures’ programme offers a wealth of opportunities for men and women aged between 16 and 24 years-of-age.

Elliot Cheetam is a recent graduate of the traineeship programme and is a fantastic success story for the Foundation. Elliot started his time with the Foundation lacking confidence and motivation but has transformed into a confident and motivated young adult.

Since starting the 12-week programme Elliot has learned multiple key fundamentals of coaching sport. Alongside that, he has also achieved an AQA  – a recognised and respected qualification – in leadership and developed skills that will help him achieve a successful career on the other side of the programme.

After seeing great success with Elliot, AFC Fylde Community Foundation have now offered him a place on the Futsal Scholarships course starting in September. Elliot will be working towards achieving his Level 3 Diploma in Sport (Equivalent to 3 A Levels) whilst playing Futsal for the Foundation team.

Foundation Director Tom Hutton is understandably proud of Elliot’s remarkable achievements. He said: “Since joining us at the beginning of his traineeship course Elliot has really come on leaps and bounds. He has a new found confidence and a great attitude towards learning and achieving. I’m delighted he has chosen to continue his path with us and will join the Futsal programme in September. “
