Napthens honoured for commitment to East Lancs

Law firm Napthens solicitors has been honoured for its links to the community in Blackburn with Darwen.

The firm has won the Commitment to Blackburn with Darwen award at the HIVE awards, which took place on Wednesday, May 10 at King George’s Hall.

The HIVE awards, which honour businesses and individuals in the area in 14 categories, are supported by the HIVE business network and a number of local sponsors.

Categories include awards for Family Business, International Achievement and Investing in Future Skills.

Napthens, which operates offices in Lancashire and Cumbria including Preston, Kendal and Southport, won the new category for businesses showing strong commitment to life in the borough – judged on aspects including a strong corporate social responsibility (CSR) policy.

Judges were ‘looking for businesses that put effort into retaining our best people through local employment, investment in skills and training, a commitment to local procurement or commitment to our communities through support of sport, community, the arts or charity.’

Oliver McCann, head of the East Lancashire office at Napthens, said: “Over the last five years Napthens has worked hard in Blackburn and across East Lancashire to establish strong ties with the community.

“We’re very proud of the links we have with charities including Blackburn Youth Zone and this award is confirmation that we should all be proud of our ethos, values and people.

“We’re looking forward to continuing this work and do our bit to make East Lancashire the vibrant and successful place it is.”
