Apprentice returns to former employer… To purchase a telephone system

Former Abbey Telecom apprentice has returned to the company 12 years after he left. However, he isn’t returning to work. Guy Shorrock now has his own practice of Chartered Building surveyors, Architectural Designers & Energy Assessors, and they need a new telephone system.

Aldrock Surveyors Ltd had an old Samsung telephone system that is in need of an upgrade due to their fast-growing business and expansion into larger premises so they have taken advantage of the capabilities of the newer models.

Guy started working for Abbey Telecom in 2001 as an apprentice engineer. He quickly showed promise when he achieved an NVQ2 qualification in just 8 months, rather than the normal 18. He was trained through the SMART (Samsung Telecoms Apprentice Recruitment and Training) programme, so he already has a good understanding of how a telephone system works.

Once the requirement for a new system arose there was nowhere else that Mr Shorrock would go. Knowing the company and employees so well from his time at Abbey Telecom it was a no brainer to go back and purchase a new system from them.

The Aldrock team visited the Lancashire based demonstration suite to find out just what the newest telephone systems are capable of, and how they could be used to improve their customer service. One of the new features that drew Guy’s attention was the 3rd party SIP extension. This allows the user to have their mobile phone as an extension off the telephone system and use the lines within the office to make phone calls even if they aren’t on site.

After watching the demonstration by Abbey Telecom, it was clear that a new modern telephone system would benefit Aldrock Surveyors in the day to day running of their business.

The system was installed at the end of November by one of Guy Shorrocks former colleagues.

Abbey Telecom installs and maintains telephone systems, working closely with clients ranging from small businesses to plcs. For further information, call 01254 272 000 or visit www.abbeytelecom.co.uk
