Lancashire’s new ‘Mini First Aid’ class educates parents and carers on how to save children’s lives

A new first aid class has been launched this month by Preston mums, Paula Kopydlowski and Andrea Kyriskou, giving them the nickname ‘mumprenuers’.

The first aid class is called Mini First Aid Lancashire and is aimed at teaching parents and carers important first aid techniques to help save toddlers, babies and children’s lives. Each class is priced at £20 per person

Launched on 6 January 2017, the class for small groups of parents and carers, is  two hours long and informs them about bumps and breaks, choking, life support, burns, and how to spot signs of seizures and meningitis, raising awareness for children’s health.

Paula, who previously worked as a Waterbabies swimming instructor; and Andrea, who has run a small business for eight years, both have two children each, giving them parenting experience, as well as experience in teaching, and commercialism. Both moms also have active, sporty children, therefore they both know the importance of knowing how to deal with injuries, bumps and bruises.

Andrea observed: “I had been looking for the right business opportunity and was really impressed by the ethos of Mini First Aid. I knew Paula would be great too, so I asked her if she would like to go into business together. We can’t wait to get started.”

The pair both want to educate parents and carers across the country, running Mini First Aid classes in schools, pre-schools, and also full paediatric courses and Mini First Aid corporate classes in the workplace.

Paula added: “Andrea and I are so excited to be working together. We met when our children started at school and have both been looking to run a business which has real meaning and purpose. It made sense to build a partnership. We want to make sure that every parent in Lancashire has the basic first aid skills to potentially save a life.”
