Burj Khalifa Illuminates with New RGBW Lighting Upgrade

  • Revolutionary lighting system unveiled for global icon
  • First display set for UAE’s Eid Al Etihad festivities

Emaar Properties has revealed an impressive new lighting system for the Burj Khalifa, featuring advanced RGBW technology. The upgrade combines technical sophistication with the building’s striking design, and it will premiere during the UAE’s Eid Al Etihad celebrations on 1 December 2024. This upgrade also marks the approach of the tower’s 15th anniversary on 4 January 2025.

The new system offers an expanded range of vibrant colours and dynamic effects, delivering a unique visual experience while showcasing Dubai’s status as a leader in creativity and innovation.

The RGBW lighting system underwent six months of rigorous mock-up testing before implementation. It replaces static lights with addressable, colour-changing fixtures capable of producing intricate and dynamic displays for festive events and routine illuminations. These effects seamlessly blend with the Burj Khalifa’s media façade while preserving its timeless elegance.

Mr Ahmad Al Matrooshi, Executive Director of Emaar Properties, stated: “Burj Khalifa has always stood as a beacon of what is possible when vision meets innovation. This lighting overhaul is a testament to our continuous pursuit of excellence and a tribute to the UAE’s spirit of progress. As we unveil this stunning upgrade during Eid Al Etihad celebrations and approach the tower’s 15th anniversary, this transformation marks a new chapter in its legacy, reaffirming Dubai as a city of boundless ambition.”

By setting new standards in architectural lighting, this project inspires future innovations in the field and further elevates the Burj Khalifa’s global status.
