UK Franchising Initiative Backed by Poundland Founder

Poundland founder Steven Smith has announced his support for a new initiative aimed at strengthening franchising opportunities in the UK. The initiative, named Franchise Angels, is the creation of Joel Bissitt, an expert in franchising and the founder of Infinity Business Growth NetworkFranchise UK & the Quality Franchise Association.

Smith is joined by Ian Townsend, COO of the Quality Franchise Association and an experienced entrepreneur with expertise in franchising law. Franchise Angels seeks to back businesses that demonstrate a strong track record and brand presence. Participants will receive expert guidance on franchising processes, operational support, and exit planning. Businesses that pass the initial application stage will have the opportunity to pitch to the Franchise Angels in a “Dragons’ Den” style event.

Joel Bissitt shared his thoughts on the initiative, stating: “We have a great combination of skills & experience in our team including investing, legal & franchising. I am delighted that someone of Steven’s stature is supporting this initiative, supporting the growth of small businesses & flying the flag for UK entrepreneurship.”

Steven Smith added: “Success is not just about what you accomplish in your life, it’s about what you inspire others to do. I am therefore delighted to support this project & look forward to supporting ambitious entrepreneurs.”
