Britain’s Got Talent Blackpool auditions cancelled following Liam Payne death

Simon Cowell called off today’s Britain’s Got Talent auditions in Blackpool following the tragic news of popstar, Liam Payne.

Dad-of-one, Liam (31) died after falling from the third floor balcony of his hotel in Buenos Aires, yesterday.

Ticket distributor Applause Store shared this update in the morning: “Due to the tragic passing of Liam Payne, BGT has decided to postpone today’s auditions in Blackpool. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.”

The third round of auditions was scheduled to take place at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool, with celebrity panellists, Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and KSI – who is temporarily standing in for regular judge, Bruno Tonioli.

Filming of the new series had only been underway two days and people had already been queueing to audition today.

A spokesman for Freemantle UK, the ITV show’s producer, said: “Due to the tragic passing of Liam Payne, we have decided to postpone the Britain’s Got Talent auditions.

“Our thoughts are with Liam’s friends, family and all who loved him.”

It was not announced, when the postponed auditions will take place.

Simon launched Liam’s career when he created One Direction, which included Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan, following their individual auditions for The X Factor.
