Ribble Cycles Redefines Road with Launch of New Allroad Bikes

PRESTON, UK. 18th July, 2024 – Ribble Cycles, a renowned British bike brand with a legacy dating back to 1897, has launched its new Allroad range. This series of bikes aims to redefine the capabilities of road bikes, promising world-class aerodynamic performance and versatility across mixed terrains without compromising on speed or comfort. Ribble calls this innovative approach “Road+” and encourages cyclists to push their boundaries.

The development of the Allroad range involved an intensive three-year R&D and real-world testing process. The advanced technologies and applied manufacturing techniques were informed by Ribble’s flagship Ultra Road aero platform. The result is a premier platform with aero-optimised technology and endurance properties, offering an exceptional all-day ride on multi-surface terrain with maximum performance and enhanced riding experience.

“Our extensive R&D program has enabled us to introduce key findings into the Allroad range, giving each bike a competitive advantage and performance edge, resulting in a complete package for all riders. The Allroad platform has been meticulously designed and fine-tuned to offer an incredible all-day endurance ride paired with unbeatable performance,” said Jamie Burrow, Head of Product at Ribble.

The Allroad platform comprises three models: Allroad SL, Allroad SL R, and Allroad SL R e. Key features across the platform include aerodynamically optimised tube profiles, new endurance-specific geometry that does not compromise performance, improved tyre clearance up to 38mm (SL R & SL R e models), multiple mounting points (including hidden mudguard mounts), multi-surface versatility, and striking signature design livery. The models boast the latest carbon technology, with the range-topping SL R and SL R e models featuring an advanced blend of T1000 and M46 fibres. The Allroad SL is constructed from T800 and T700 fibres and shares many key aerodynamic features with the flagship SLR models.

One of the key innovations is the all-new Ribble UB2 bar (Ultra Bar 2nd Gen), available on the SL R and SL R e. The UB2 carbon handlebar optimises the patented Ultra handlebar’s air-flow disrupting wake generators, aero-sculpted drops, and direct mount brake levers for an endurance road setup. This fully integrated, cable-free ergonomic design provides added adjustability for all-day riding on the hoods or drops.

The flagship Allroad SL R incorporates advanced aerodynamics from the Ultra Road platform to create a superlight machine designed for ultimate efficiency. Using a bespoke blend of M46 and T1000 carbon fibre, the SL R weighs in at 7.5kg (Medium Hero build). It benefits from aero-optimised profiling of the downtube, flared seat stays, wider forks, and tapered chain stays to aid compliance and tyre clearance up to 38c. The SL R includes internal frame storage in the downtube for ride essentials and can be enhanced with Ribble’s aero-optimised bottle cages.

The Allroad SL, with a full carbon frame and fork made from T700 and T800 fibres, offers a lightweight frame at 8.8kg (Medium Pro build). Its design ensures an ideal blend of stiffness and compliance, with aerodynamically optimised frame profiles and a tyre clearance of up to 35c.

The Allroad SL R e combines the aerodynamic and advanced construction properties of the SL R platform with the powerful MAHLE X20 drive system, providing exceptional power assistance. Capable of 140km on a single charge (extendable to over 200km with an optional range extender), this system includes route planning and heart rate monitor compatibility, all updateable via a Bluetooth-connected app. Weighing in at 11.8kg (Medium Hero build), the SL R e has a tyre clearance of up to 38c.

The Allroad range is available in recommended builds, including Sport, Enthusiast, Pro, and Hero. Prices for the Allroad SL start at £1,699 (Sport) and go up to £2,999 (Pro). The Allroad SL R ranges from £2,999 (Sport) to £8,299 (Hero). The Allroad SL R e starts at £3,999 (Sport) and reaches £8,499 (Hero). Customers can fine-tune the specifications using Ribble’s Configurator and personalise the livery with their CustomColour proposition.

Ribble’s Road+ approach is supported by a striking campaign shot on location in Andorra. The campaign includes a film created in collaboration with Conductor Productions, premiering on YouTube this evening.
