Free family events set to take place at Preston Markets

Preston Markets are hosting a range of free, family events on Saturdays throughout August.

Beneath Preston’s iconic, Victorian canopy a series of events will take place for the whole family to enjoy.

From scientific exploration of the senses to a fantastic bubble show; back by popular demand. Dance with the Funguys, see the world from a different perspective and pick up free gifts being handed out by some interesting characters.

Saturday, August 3 – Scientific exploration

Two plucky, young, aspiring scientists mix real science with historical tales about the development of scientific study using their walkabout, much-talked-about, spectacular, scientific discovery machine.

Anne and Lottie invite the curious to take part in their experiments, one for each sense (touch, smell, taste, sound and sight).

This science-meets-Victoriana show looks at technology and science being used to understand the world around us.

Saturday, August 10 – A few feet up

See the world from a different viewpoint. Presenting the theory that a slight physical change of perspective can encourage a conceptual one. A Few Feet Up asks you to collaborate with two performers and their giant periscope, to view the world from a different angle.

Saturday, August 17 – The Funguys

The Funguys are sure to provide great entertainment beneath Preston Markets’ Victorian canopy. The colourful characters will be bringing plenty of smiles and laughter through a combination of dance, music, and toys. Get ready to have a blast!

Saturday, August 31 – Paris Bubbles

Paris Bubbles are returning to Preston Markets for a third year with giant bubbles, tiny bubbles, smoke filled bubbles and more. Bubble entertainment is a stunning spectacle to watch, versatile and astonishingly entertaining all at once, everyone loves bubbles.
