Bayern Munich have agreed terms with Burnley on a £10.2 million deal to make Vincent Kompany their new manager, according to a report.
The Clarets have accepted the compensation sum for their contract with Kompany which ran until 2028, TalkSport has said.
Kompany has reached an agreement in principle with the Bundesliga giants, BBC Sport added, putting the Belgian on the verge of making the surprise move to the Uefa Champions League semi-finalists.
Bayern are seeking a successor to Thomas Tuchel and have failed to secure high-profile targets including Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso, Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann and Austria’s Ralf Rangnick.

Kompany is said to want his Burnley assistant, Craig Bellamy, to join him, but the former Wales striker remains a candidate for the vacancy at Turf Moor for now.
Backroom staff Floribert Ngalula and Bram Geers will reportedly be part of Kompany’s backroom staff at the 33-time German champions on a contract said to run until 2027.
Bayern held unproductive talks with Tuchel last week about staying despite the 50-year-old initially announcing his exit in February.

A Premier League legend courtesy of his four top-flight titles as Manchester City captain, Kompany speaks German and played for Hamburg in the Bundesliga between 2006 and 2008.
Kompany made a sensational start to his first managerial role in England, guiding Burnley – who he joined from Anderlecht, where he began his coaching career – to the 2022/23 Championship title.
The Clarets were in the Premier League bottom three throughout 2023/24, although a late improvement in form meant their relegation was only confirmed after the penultimate match of the season.
“The Championship is very tough but hopefully it’s us celebrating on the pitch on the final day next season,” Kompany said after Burnley finished the season with a 2-1 home defeat to Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
Bayern were comfortably eclipsed by Alonso’s unbeaten Leverkusen in 2023/24, finishing 18 points behind the champions in third.
