Views wanted on potential new skate park for Colne

People are asked to express their views about a proposed skate park in Colne.

An initial meeting will be held with consultants working with Pendle Borough Council to design a potential new concrete skate park on a piece of land behind Pendle Leisure Centre.

It is being held at Pendle Leisure Centre, Crown Way, Colne, on Thursday, February 22 from 6pm – 8pm.

The aim of the gathering is to look at various options and design elements that local users would like to see. People of any age that are interested in helping to develop the project are invited along to the consultation – but places must be booked.

Councillor Asjad Mahmood, leader of Pendle Borough Council, said: “This will be another great asset for the borough.

“It will be yet another way for our younger residents to exercise and socialise and I think in consulting them, we can ensure we get the design right and it will be used to its full potential.”

Phil Riley, the council’s Green Spaces manager, said: “We have consultants to work with us, but we also want to hear from people that already use a skate park and have ideas on what we need, to have a say and express their views on the proposed design options.”

To make sure there is enough space to accommodate everyone, places must be booked. Bookings can be made at [email protected] or by calling 01282 661587.
