JAK Hanson, an independent department store off the M6 at Wrightington, has welcomed an increase in the number of coach companies choosing to visit as an alternative stop off to Charnock Richard Services.
Guests say a personal welcome from staff, local produce and single level access are earning the store a winning reputation as a pleasant place to stop.
The Derby House site has substantial parking space around the 18,000 sq ft building which also houses the Derby House Food Hall and The Paddock Restaurant. The single level venue offers excellent disabled access and a relaxed shopping experience.
The business has welcomed 23 coach companies over the years and has noticed a surge in coach custom this year, with regular visitors including Johnsons, Buckleys, Greenline, Timewells and Dave New Tours.
Jane Ramones, co-founder of JAK Hanson, said: “It’s brilliant to welcome returning and new coach companies – all reporting an increase in people booking more day trips and coach holidays. We’re seeing more consistency on coaches coming and repeat custom from drivers. We offer a free meal at the restaurant for the driver and £10 if they stop 1.5 hours or more and we personally welcome the passengers on arrival.”
Selling top name clothing, footwear, toys, homewares, gifts and bedding brands; visitors have recognised JAK Hanson’s appeal as a north west destination shopping venue, fuelling consistent growth since it opened ten years ago.
The family business has also achieved award recognition this year and has been shortlisted for the Lancashire Tourism Awards Finals 2023 in the category of Family Owned/Run Business.
The winner is set to be announced in February 2024, following a round of interviews and mystery shopper visits.
