A Lancashire duo has been shortlisted for Community and Store Hero gongs at the Retail Week Awards 2024.
Colne retail manager Jade Fennessy, who was worked at The Perfume Shop for four years, is thrilled to be nominated for a Store Hero award, whilst Melissa Parlour, an early careers advisor at Matalan in Knowsley, has been shortlisted in the Community Hero category.
The Perfume Shop
The Perfume Shop, the UK’s largest fragrance only retailer, has been shortlisted for three prestigious awards at the upcoming Retail Week Awards which will be held on March 5, 2024.
The Perfume Shop has been nominated alongside other well known UK retailers. The three categories include the following:
- Speciality Retailer of the Year
- Award for the Happiest Place to Work
- Store Hero/Heroes Award
Fantastic results
Jade Fennessy has led her team at Colne to deliver some fantastic results this year. From the store’s amazing TikTok results driving brand awareness to the stores like for like sales in 2023 at a huge 23.4% up.
From sales to green stocktakes and amazing secret stockroom sales, Jade and team have attracted a huge following on TikTok – over 295.7K followers and together they have created content that has had well over 7.5 million likes. A number of videos have achieved more than a million views, with one raking in 111 million.
Jade has led the team to have a fantastic Customer Love score of 93% and recently won the Store Manager of the Year award at The Perfume Shop’s annual conference, after winning the runner up in award in 2022.

“She’s a fantastic role model, she leads her team by example, she champions the people in her team and is dedicated to giving the Colne customers a brilliant instore experience as well as driving secret stockroom sales.”
Three nominations

‘Community hero’
Melissa Parlour, an early careers advisor at Matalan in Knowsley, was also shortlisted for an award.
She was nominated within the Community Hero category by colleagues for her efforts running Skelmersdale United FC’s Fans Supporting Foodbanks initiative and gaining a councillor seat for the Labour party in Skelmersdale North, alongside her role at Matalan where she has introduced a traineeship across Matalan stores to help young people develop the skills they need to secure permanent employment, education or training.
