Lancashire Women launches new free support groups

Lancashire Women has set up a whole host of new free help groups starting in October.

The Accrington charity exists to support as many women as possible to make positive change in their lives. Barriers may be personal to women including a stigma in society or environmental/cultural obstacles.

With the expertise and support of its caseworkers and therapists, Lancashire Women is able to support people in tackling their obstacles.

Mindfit

This is a new therapeutic group for women in Accrington, Burnley and Blackpool.

The 6-week course that helps participants manage stress, anxiety, learn self-compassion and guides participants onto a journey of self-discovery, to become the best version of themselves.

MindFit participants say this course has helped them reduce stress and anxiety by increasing inner balance, self-security and feeling happier.

Course start dates:

  • Burnley – Wednesday 8th November
  • Accrington – Wednesday 8th November
  • Blackpool – Wednesday 11th October
  • Blackpool – Wednesday 22nd November

Eyes Wide Open

This programme is designed to support women to identify abusive behaviours and the impact that these behaviours have on their lives.

It teaches women that abuse is intentional and ingrained in the belief system of the perpetrator. It explores the different tactics used and what the perpetrator intends to achieve from using these tactics. The programme looks at the values and beliefs of society, the perpetrator and women, it unpicks these views and supports women to challenge them.

Course start dates:

  • Accrington – Monday 13th November

Steps to Confidence

This group aims to give women the tools they need to make positive change within a safe and supportive space.

Help includes: • Building confidence and setting boundaries • Resilience & coping strategies • Communication skills • Goal setting & action planning • Money & energy saving tips
Course start dates:

  • Accrington – Tuesday 7th November

There are many more free courses available. You can find more here. Those who wish to take part in a course should fill in the  Online Referral Form and someone will be in touch.
