Lancashire Restaurant Named as One of the Best in the UK at AA Rosette Awards!

The AA Rosette Awards celebrate the crème de la crème
of UK culinary establishments

A Lancashire restaurant has been recognised at this year’s prestigious AA Rosette Awards.

Preston-based pub, the 263, received three AA Rosettes – standing out for its selection and treatment of the highest quality ingredients and consistently excellent flavour combinations. This commitment to quality earned the restaurant a top spot on the AA’s list of the UK’s finest restaurants.

Established in 1956, the AA Rosette awards have long been a marker of leading restaurant and hotel venues across the UK, with the allocation of multi-Rosettes determined by AA’s expert inspectors. Venues with three AA Rosettes are all outstanding restaurants that achieve standards that demand national recognition well beyond their local area.

As is tradition, each winner of a Rosette Award also received the iconic porcelain AA plate.

Here’s what the AA inspectors had to say about the 263 …

Unpretentious modern dining in an unexpected setting.

Speaking on the 263, an AA inspector said: “A charming period terraced property in a central but quiet residential area, might not be where you’d expect to find a restaurant of this calibre, but that just makes the discovery more thrilling.

“The unpretentious, relaxed dining room has a modern, pared back Scandi feel with wooden floors and walls hung with contemporary paintings.

“The seven-course tasting menu changes with the seasons, and is robust and modern in style and technique, with straightforward clarity of flavours and an emphasis on foraged ingredients. The wine list is worth exploring and as well as wine flights they offer a beer tasting flight.”

Simon Numphud, Managing Director at AA Media
, which operates the AA Rosette scheme, said: “This year we’ve seen an exceptional level of culinary excellence demonstrated by those receiving our coveted AA Rosettes, and the 263 is no exception.

“I’m constantly inspired by the resilience, innovation, and quality demonstrated by these trailblazers in our industry, and Lancashire is lucky to be home to such an impressive restaurant. Congratulations to all the worthy winners.”
