King Georges Hall was transported back to the 80s in a celebration of The Mall Blackburn’s retailers.
The shopping centre’s Retailer Awards, which made a comeback after being cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic and then again in 2022 following the death of HRH Queen Elizabeth, saw everyone dig out their best 80s clobber and mark the achievements of hardworking staff.
Shoppers voted in their thousands and Best Overall Retailer went to Primark, which is one of The Mall’s flagship stores.
Rhode Island’s tasty treats earned them the title of Best Food and Beverage provider while Footasylum put its best foot forward after winning the Best Customer Service Award.
PureGym’s ‘strong’ following led them to being named Best Service Provider while staff from Chris Shan the Jewellers shone bright after scooping the Best Independent Retailer Award.
Primark found itself in prime position for the second time at the awards after being recognised for its excellent standards in Health and Safety Compliance.
Best involvement in the Trade Index was handed to Blue Inc and the team at The Works were delighted after being recognised as the retailer that has the best communication with the Ask Me Point.
The amazing people at Secret Santa were also praised for their massive involvement in The Mall’s Community and Fundraising efforts.
Best-dressed awards went to Jack Brookfield from Pandora, who was dressed as 80s film character Marty McFly from the Back to the Future trilogy.
Laura Diffey, Marketing Manager at The Mall Blackburn, said: “It felt absolutely fantastic to once again be celebrating our amazing retailers after three long years.
“Shoppers voted in their thousands and we were delighted to see Primark take top spot.
“Everyone went all out in the fancy dress stakes and we had 80s icons including Michael Jackson, Madonna, Boy George and many more ‘special guests’ join us for an evening of fun.
“All our winners were very deserving and we would like to thank them, and all our other fantastic retailers, for their commitment and hard work.
John, Store Manager at Primark, added: “We had an amazing time celebrating with fellow retailers and our colleagues from The Mall.
“It was a really special atmosphere after not being able to celebrate this way for three years and winning two gongs was the icing on the cake.
“The team at The Mall always work really hard to ensure everyone has a great night, and this year was no exception!”
