Former Young People’s Centre in Great Harwood to go up for auction

A substantial Lancashire County Council property in Great Harwood, near Blackburn, which housed the town’s Young People’s Centre, is to be put up for auction next month.

The 6,600 sq ft property, which sits in 0.63 acres, will appear in auction house Pugh’s online property auction on 21 February and has been given a guide price of £350,000.

The two-storey building, on Lowerfold Road, includes a variety of offices and meeting rooms, open plan multi-function spaces, kitchens and bathrooms. It has a lawned area and yard along with parking for up to 10 cars.

Paul Parker, associate director at auction house Pugh, said: “This is a perfectly placed property, on a substantial plot, in a brilliant location. Great Harwood is a bustling town with a thriving high street packed with independent owner-managed businesses including a destination bakery along with a butchers, fishmongers, and cheese delicatessen plus cafes, restaurants, pubs and bars. Close to the Ribble Valley, it’s just three miles from the M65 motorway giving easy access to Blackburn and the North West.

“The property is a great investment opportunity and there are all kinds of new uses that it could be put to in the hands of an imaginative developer and subject to the necessary planning consents.”

Bidding on the former council buildings, and the other lots in Pugh’s online property auction, opens on 21st February and closes the following day. To view the full catalogue, go to www.pugh-auctions.com
