The Peter Young CNC Suite named to mark Retirement following 42 Years of Service at Training 2000

On Thursday 17th November, The Peter Young CNC Suite was revealed in a celebration marking Pete Young’s retirement following 42 years of service at Training 2000.

Pete began working at Training 2000 in the engineering department in 1980, sharing his knowledge and expertise with hundreds of students and colleagues past and present, leaving his mark on the training provider when he retired in November of 2022.

Training 2000 commemorated the milestone by unveiling a sign naming a CNC suite after Pete in a surprise celebration marking the occasion. The afternoon included banners, balloons, cake and gifts, as well as many of his close family, friends and ex colleagues surprising him at the presentation.

Apprentices taught by Pete Young, some of whom went on to have careers alongside him, commented on his teaching and recalled catchphrases, wishing him well in his retirement.

Paul Murphy, a Machining Instructor at Training 2000 commented “Pete was the core of Training 2000. He was inspirational to thousands of apprentices and dozens of instructors.  He inspired me as a learner and continued to do so when I returned as a tutor. He is very unassuming, but also profound….when he speaks, you listen.

It has been my pleasure, to have Pete as my instructor, mentor and friend”.
