Gleeson Homes becomes a signatory to the New Homes Quality Board’s Code of Practice

Gleeson Homes, the low-cost house builder, announces today that it has completed its registration with the New Homes Quality Board (NHQB), becoming one of the first housebuilders nationally to do so.

The NHQB is an independent not-for-profit organisation which was established to develop a new framework overseeing reforms in the regulation of the build quality of new-build homes and the levels of customer service provided by developers. A New Homes Ombudsman Service has been established, as well as a new industry code of practice – the New Homes Quality Code.

The code ensures that the entire process of buying a new home is covered, from initial contact to the end of the developer’s two-year warranty. The NHQB’s Code of Practice ensures that developers act in a responsible, fair, and respectful manner to all consumers.

Gleeson has completed a comprehensive review process to ensure that all of its procedures and training are compliant with all areas of the Code, and to provide customers with increased confidence when buying a Gleeson home.

As part of the NHQB, the New Homes Ombudsman Service will work with customers if they are not satisfied with the service or home that they have received, helping to promote good practice throughout the industry.

Mark Knight, Chief Executive of Gleeson Homes, commented;

“Gleeson welcomes the opportunity to participate in the New Homes Quality Code, which provides further protection and reassurance for our customers. It is a great initiative, and a real step forward for the industry. Being accredited demonstrates our commitment to delivering a thorough and professional service throughout the full customer journey.”

Leon Livermore, Chief Executive of the New Homes Quality Board, said:

“Consumers can be assured that where they see our branding that their builder should be working to the new high standards our code demands of them or they can take their case to a strong and independent Ombudsman. The new framework will drive up standards, improve the experience and increase consumer confidence, providing benefits for consumers and builders alike.”
