Vision Techniques installs safety equipment on recycling firm’s EV Skip Transporters in UK first

A national waste recycling specialist is using Vision Techniques’ market-leading safety equipment on its new electric skip transporter trucks, which are a UK first.

Recycling Lives’ two 19-tonne E-Tech DZE trucks were designed and developed in collaboration with Renault Trucks and mark the start of the recycling specialist’s journey in decarbonising the company’s entire fleet.

The Renault Trucks E-Tech DZE have been fitted with Blackburn-based Vision Techniques’ industry-leading Turnaware, Turnalarm, video recording systems and telematics. The all-electric vehicles will be used in daily operations, servicing commercial and household clients.

Eddie Hollingsworth, Head of Transport Operations at Recycling Lives, said: “Our industry is fast-paced and is at the forefront of ensuring collectively we minimise our impact on the environment. Moving to a decarbonised fleet is one way we can do that, but we also need to ensure that safety is paramount.”

Operating across over 20 sites in the UK, Recycling Lives is a UK recycling and waste management business founded on creating social value and delivering environmental innovation and governance as a fully embedded business ethos.

As today’s largest UK Car processing business, it has over 40 years of experience working in the recycling sector.

Dave Smith, Operations Manager at Vision Techniques added: “Recycling Lives is truly a ground-breaking business. We’re proud to have our products used on their vehicles and help them create a transport fleet that is incredibly safe for its people and the public.”
