Westholme School’s new Prep School is benefitting from state-of-the-art ventilation – meaning the end to stuffy classrooms for pupils.
The new building was constructed with innovation in mind across all aspects of the provision. The new ventilation system provides natural ventilation, hybrid ventilation, secure night time cooling, mixed tempered air during winter and boosted levels of ventilation during summer.
The new mono draught ventilation system is a carbon neutral, on demand ventilation unit which reduces CO2 levels and provides a better air quality.
Studies carried out by Harvard University in 2016 found significant declines in cognitive function when CO2 concentrations were increased, which is common in traditional indoor spaces.
Westholme’s Principal, Dr Richard Robson, praised the new system for helping boost the concentration of students.
He said: “This is exciting new technology which not only helps to ventilate and heat the classrooms, but monitors and reduces the CO2 levels.
“The system is registered as carbon neutral and we will be proudly displaying the official certification to consolidate our holistic provision, where we deliver an all-round educational excellence that is not just focussed in the classroom. There really is no PREP like Westholme!”
The new building also sports a beautiful sedum roof and high efficient LED lighting to boost its eco credentials as it moves towards becoming carbon neutral; a 21st century school in every aspect, preparing its students for the 21st century workplace.
