Tattoo business set to open new Blackpool studio with support from NatWest

A tattoo artist from Blackpool is set to open a new spacious, state-of-the-art studio thanks to a £100,000 financing package from NatWest.

Danny Robinson, owner of Checkmate Studios, started his tattoo business 11 years ago and has long set his sights on owning a premises of his own from which to further grow the business.

With the support of a NatWest finance package, Danny has now been able to buy and refurbish a former laundrette, which is set to open in November.

Danny, who previously starred in MTV show Just Tattoo of Us, said: “I’ve always wanted to own my own studio and to have a space to make my own and grow my business from, so I’m really excited to have finally been able to achieve one of my goals.

“The refurbishment and renovation of the studio has been hard work but a really exciting time too and I’m looking forward to being able to open a modern, comfortable, space that I know our clients will enjoy spending time in. We’re all excited for the doors to open to our customers.

“The financing and support from NatWest and my broker from Pomegranate Commercial Finance has been so simple and straightforward and it was really easy to ask any questions along the way.”

As well as financing the studio, which is the base for eight tattoo artists, the loan from NatWest will help prepare Danny for future growth, including offering laser tattoo removal and further developing his Checkmate Tattoo Care range of skincare products.

Shaif Ali, Broker Business Development Manager at NatWest, said: “It’s been fantastic to be able to support Danny to achieve his ambition of having a tattoo studio of his own from which to base his business. I’m really excited to see the new studio open its doors and watch the business thrive in years to come.”

Gary Beggs, Commercial Finance Manager at Pomegranate Commercial Finance, said: “I am delighted I was able to support my client Danny with the purchase of his first trading premises, with the help of our trusted bank partners NatWest.

“There is nothing I and the team at Pomegranate love more than supporting growing start-up businesses with achieving their goal of owning their first premises. It’s a major milestone in any business and it’s a great testament to the hard work and determination that Danny has put into his business to achieve this initial goal.

“Danny has built up an excellent reputation and following that has resulted in him being booked up until August next year, which is phenomenal. I’m sure this is just the start of a new exciting chapter for Danny and he will take this business to much further success into the future.”
