UK’s largest privately-owned contact centre secures lending facility from IGF

Independent Growth Finance (IGF) has provided UK-based The Contact Company with a substantial funding facility to support its continued expansion and local recruitment drive.

Launched in 2006 in Birkenhead, England, The Contact Company operates as an outsourced contact and service centre, providing its clients with a bespoke and defined service offering which includes general customer service, sales, compliance and complaints handling. The business services over twenty clients – from household names like John Lewis, Argos and BT, to  brands such as The Health Lottery and Great Little Trading Company.

The business has grown exponentially, from a small start-up employing just twelve people, to a large, private sector employer. Today, the company employees upwards of 1,500 people.

Once largely based out of two sites at Queensgate and Kingsgate, a number of the company’s staff now works from home. Recognising the surging demand for remote working, the facility provided by IGF will be used to grow the business’ work from home offering and set up regionalised recruitment hubs. Working with local authorities, The Contact Company will find suitable locations to engage new employees and deliver comprehensive training.

Asif Hamid, CEO of The Contact Company, added: “We were looking for a lender that could support our growth following new customer wins, one that could act quickly and provide us the certainty they could deliver a facility within a relatively short timeframe. IGF took time to understand our business, the dynamics of the sector, and the important position that The Contact Company holds within the service offering of our customer base. IGF’s short lines of decision making meant terms were delivered quickly and a facility was in place within the desired timelines.”

Against the backdrop of the evolving business and economic climate, The Contact Company sought a new finance partner able to support its continued and sustainable expansion. The business is currently going through a number of tender processes, and the funding will also be used to support these efforts.

New Business Director at IGF, Richard Spielbichler, said: “We are proud to support The Contact Company’s ambition to provide meaningful and lifelong employment for local communities. In the outsourcing space cashflow is king, and we were able to quickly provide The Contact Company with a flexible facility required to scale their operations.”
